Loudoun County Court House
Our 7th and 8th grade students got a practical application of their Civics class learning with a trip to the Loudoun County Courthouse in Leesburg, VA. We were met by two sheriffs who gave us a lovely tour of the building and let us explore an empty courtroom with even a visit to the holding cells (We checked that they were empty first!). We then were able to sit in on both traffic court and criminal court cases and hear about the judicial process right up close. Finally, Judge Snow and his staff spent some time with us in his courtroom, answering questions and explaining their roles. It was a highly informative trip and many thanks to the wonderful courthouse staff for putting this together and making it happen for us!
