The Newton School 2023 Election

The Newton School election results for 2023 are in! Democrat Suhas Subramanyam defeated Republican Gregory Moulthrop -  50-22. In our school wide referendums: PASSED  - Students voted for Free Dress Friday in a landslide of 63 - 9. The first Free Dress day will be Friday, November 17th and then the last Friday school day of each month through June 2024. FAILED - Students voted down mandatory weekend homework by a vote of 9 - 63 (and who were the 9 who voted for this??). Many thanks to Mr. Wait's Civics class for tabulating the votes and a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Ms. Swarns for doing an amazing job on our election planning and process. Congrats to our awesome students for fulfilling their civic duty and participating in democracy!
