Mentoring Program

Our 8th graders practiced their mentoring skills with the younger students by taking a field trip to Barnes & Nobles at Tysons to purchase a book for their mentee, based on their interests. First, they interviewed their mentees about the kinds of books they liked and reading levels, and then they located a book that matched those at the bookstore. These ranged from Sharks to Trains to Unicorns and more! Once purchased, the older students wrapped them with ribbons, presented them to the younger students and read them together. All in all, it was a great way to work on these skills and a fun exchange for everyone!
